Plain and simple, whoever interviews best gets the job. We’ve seen students perform poorly in online tests in Assessment Centres and still get hired because they interviewed well. The employer liked what they saw. At the same time we’ve seen many Masters students at ‘Top 5’ universities expecting ‘Distinctions’ that fail on video interview or at the final interview hurdle because they didn’t learn how to interview. Impressing at multiple interviews with multiple personnel is key.

Interviewing is a learnt skill. Whoever interviews best gets the job.

As well as some fairly obvious questions to expect at interview, there are other motivational, technical and commercial questions to address. Additionally there are two further distinct interview styles to expect. We can advise on all question content, ideal ways to respond and share our comprehensive knowledge of how each financial institution approaches this subject, citing firm specific actual interview questions as appropriate.

As well as answering with great structure, it is crucial to bring in Unique Content into the interview to show that you have ‘gone the extra mile’. That content is normally financial industry, sector, trend or product knowledge unknown to other candidates. Paul and Bjorn provide such unique content to Opening City Door students via their coaching services.

From our experience the best way to work is to conduct mock interview sessions (perhaps 20 minutes in length) and then work through each response repeating that process in the same, or via another, session adding unique content appropriately. Sessions can be telephone or Skype.

Students can book a single interview that is approaching with a particular company (a company that we will almost certainly know and have had Opening City Door students interview before at) or students can book multiple sessions as required.

To repeat, interviewing is a learnt skill. Whoever interviews best gets the job.
